It’s been a while since our last entry. We did not shut down but with only a minimum team left on deck and with what felt like increased workload, the past two weeks have been a tad manic.
Last Sunday most Tonicians were back. Right on time to celebrate the Epiphany in French-style. Just another excuse to eat cake if you ask me. I love this cake so it’s one of Tonic’s many annual traditions. We do it French style by eating a Galette des Rois (loosely translated as Kings’ pie), a wonderfully rich puff pastry pie filled with marzipan cream. Meant to celebrate the arrival of the 3 Kings in Bethlehem.
The practice is always fun as each pie has a trinket (usually a porcelain figurine) hidden inside. The person who gets the piece of cake with the trinket becomes “king” for a day… and chooses his queen. This year, Jad and Khaled were the kings and chose Mamta (because she begged but was later robbed by Sarah) and Ana (you’ll see why in the next post).
